Welcome! I'm glad that you've found your way to my website.
NEWS OF THE DAY...
March 1 through October 31, 2010 - I will be returning to the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Stratford, Ontario to appear in PETER PAN and a new Canadian musical, THE KING OF THIEVES. I'll be posting more in the near future, but for show dates and times please go to http://www.stratfordfestival.ca and click on the Calendar for each show of the season. By the way... it's promises to be a terrific season.
Someone recently wrote me to draw my attention to a couple of omissions on my website and I thought that I'd take a moment to "crow a little". On November 14th, 2009 at the Barrie Arts Awards I received an Excellence in the Arts award for my contribution as director, actor and teacher in the Greater Barrie area. Though I was thrilled by the Award and the cheque that went with it, I was totally unprepared for the introductory speech which was given by Joe Anderson and Marc Hill. Their words and their points of recognition reduced me to tears and I'm afraid that my acceptance speech was more watery than coherent. I would like to thank the City of Barrie Department of Culture for this honour and I would like to thank Trudee Romanek and Arkady Spivak (both were recipients in 2008) for taking the time and making the effort to nominate me. I also congratulate my fellow Excellence in the Arts winners, Renee Cingolani and Larissa Mair. Thank you, thank you, thank you...
With the help and encouragement of my friend and colleague, John Bleasby, I've launched a monthly Arts Digest titled SCOTT TALK. In January we sent this e-newsletter out to nearly 400 individual arts practitioners and we're already started on Issue Number Two which will be sent out in the first week of February. If you or your organization have something for inclusion in the At-A-Glance Calendar portion of Scott Talk, or if you would like to be added to the list of "subscribers", please feel free to contact me at scott.hurst@sympatico.ca or contact John at john.bleasby@hotmail.com
The other thing I wanted to mention, and it will be expanded upon in the near future, is my work as an Adjudicator for drama and musical theatre. Please stay tuned for more on this aspect of my career.
