At Home...

Since 1995 I've resided in the city of Barrie, Ontario with my partner and two cats; thankfully, it's always been the same partner, though the cast of cats has changed over the past twelve years!).

This is Katya... she's a simple girl, but she's pretty!  She's now well into her 13th year, and she doesn't know that the thing at the end of her spine is her tail.

This is Jessie... Pretty, too, but cranky as the day is long!  She is now in her 16th year on the planet.  She's determined that Katya will not outlive her!   LOL.

Since we moved into our first house in 1998, gardening has become a hobby of mine (ours) and though our gardens won't be adorning the pages of any of the magazines to which we subscribe anytime soon, I'm always gratified by the surprises, both expected and unanticipated, which we receive in every season of the year.

In 2002 I was fortunate to spend 13 weeks in Moscow and I took an inexpensive digital camera along for the ride.  It was remarkable to be able to send pictures of Red Square, the Moscow Art Theatre, the Bolshoi Theatre and all the churches, people and places of that great city via the internet to my family and friends at home in Canada, and photography has now become a semi-hobby as well.   Inevitably, I've combined the two passions and am now taking a lot of photos of our garden.  (That's what you do when you don't have kids or dogs!)

This is one happy, late-blooming clematis.

Some of the tallest lilies this side of the Texas border.

And, of course, some daylilies battling for dominance over some passive hostas and a heuchera or two, too!  The more dramatic coloured ones are called Crimson Pirates... Arrrrrrgh!

Bearded irises and dwarf irises from early in the season.

And an unexpected guest in the front bed was this Angel's Trumpet or Datura.  We planted two others in the back beds.

And though we do have a tendency to pull them out before they mature, we had some lovely morning glories in amongst the pale pink climbing roses and the Angel's Trumpets in the backyard.
